Our body is the vehicle for bringing vocal resonance, color, and tone into a whole-body movement experience. Developing our breath awareness through actively moving in space engages our body awareness and strengthens our vocal presence. This builds a dynamic, inspired dialogue between our voice and movement and enhances the development of our creative expression and communication skills.
The intro day focuses on different aspects of VMI Somatic Practice that incorporate Active Breath, embodied anatomy, sensory awareness, movement in space, and hands-on bodywork. Improvisation structures combining voice and movement are introduced to amplify creativity in an ensemble experience.
The workshop is for anyone who is curious and interested to know about the Voice Movement Integration (VMI) Somatic Practice approach and the VMI Somatic Practice Certification Program.

What People Are Saying:
“I felt that this method/way of seeing the connection between body and voice as different “devices”, but interconnected as extensions of the Self, that they can help and follow each other in an infinite dialogue; has been a complete EXPERIENCE. After the workshop, I feel much more connected to my core, connected to my breath, body and voice as tools-souls I can use to explore my creativity.”
~Sofia Alonso Wilson – journalist, writer, and sings~
“Clarity, detail, availability, multi-sensorial feedback, confidence, drive, and efficient energy. I realise that these potential/possibilities are not separated from the body potential which I am able to revise every time I experience VMI Somatic Practice”

About the workshop:
Developing emotive power and physical presence are essential tools for the performer. The body is the vehicle for bringing vocal resonance, articulation, and nuance into a whole-body movement experience. Developing our breath awareness through actively moving enhances our vocal presence and engages our body awareness with more vitality and detail. This helps to build an active, inspired dialogue in experiencing and developing our communication skills and expression in life and in our creativity.
The workshop combines vocal expression with physical movement to deepen awareness and awaken perception in ways that foster transformation. Participants will use vocal and physical practices to explore the skeletal, organ, and fluid systems as a source for discovering the resonance of sound in a whole-body movement experience. From this sense of physical connection, we will move into interacting with sounds coming from physical gestures and fluctuating rhythms.
We will engage with sound and language through improvisation opening up the space inside ourselves, in partners, in ensemble interaction, and in a shared circle of sound & rhythm.
Bringing the body into a felt sense of awareness provides fertile ground for bringing vocal presence into a whole-body experience that supports our capacity to communicate and enhance our performance skills. Our expression begins to converge & navigate through uncharted territory refreshing our relationship to our creativity and sense of aliveness.
What people said about my last workshop at Tictac Art Centre:
“I felt that this method/way of seeing the connection between body and voice as different “devices”, but interconnected as extensions of the Self, that they can help and follow each other in an infinite dialogue; has been a complete EXPERIENCE.”
~ Sofia Alonso Wilson journalist, writer, and sings
“Patricia takes us to places that the brain does not understand. The voice and the body are brought to work together, gently and help us to connect to this deep presence within us. A work to connect to our impulses, to what the body and the voice wish to express beyond what our head would like. We find ourselves on stage in improvisation with these others who become allies and with whom there are strong exchanges. Deep working together.”
~ Marine Mehri – singer/performer/midwife

Module 1
Skeletal System and Joint Articulation
16 May till 13 June ’22
The Skeletal System – establishes the weight bearing 3-dimensional support in our functional movement. The bones give the body its shape and form and guides the muscular action for moving efficiently in space. The bone marrow inner layer produces red and white blood cells strengthening the immune system.
Finely tuned voluntary control of the structural joints is achieved through well-balanced circuits of communication between brain, sensory & motor nerves and the proprioceptive sense receptors.
Cultivating a sense of fluidity and spaciousness of the joint structures gives the entire body a feeling of effortlessness while sustaining stability in our movement.
Using breath, voice and movement to modulate and vary states of support and activity in the skeletal structure. Creating a dynamic interactive flow between the forces of gravity and space inside the body influences our expressive vitality, sound and movement flow.

“EMBODYING THE VOICE WHILE MOVING”
WORKSHOP with PATRICIA BARDI
Patricia Bardi’s work combines vocal expression with physical movement to deepen awareness and awaken perception in ways that foster transformation. Participants will use vocal and physical practices to explore the skeletal, organ and fluid systems as a source for discovering resonance of sound in the body. We will work with connecting our breath to physical sensation while actively moving in space. We will engage with sound and language through improvisation opening up the space inside ourselves, in partners and in a shared circle of sound & rhythm. From this sense of physical connection, we will move into interacting with sounds coming from physical gesture and fluctuating rhythms.
Bringing the body into a felt sense of awareness provides fertile ground for bringing our awareness & vocal presence into a whole body experience that supports our capacity to communicate and enhance our performance skills. Our expression begins to converge & navigate through uncharted territory refreshing our relationship to our creativity and aliveness.
TO PARTICIPATE
The WORKSHOP is open to those who want to improve their dance experience and to those who want to get closer to listening to the body, expanding the pleasure of being present in moment.

Introduction Days for new VMI Somatic Practice Module 1 Foundation Course.
This series of one day workshops incorporates Bardi’s innovative work, Vocal Dance, a performance practice that frees the voice to be fully alive and reflected in one’s expressive vitality and movement. It also includes Voice Movement Integration (VMI) Practice an integrative somatic practice actively combining voice with movement with the deepening process of bodywork to stimulate and organize the body’s physical-perceptual-emotional awareness.
Using vocal and physical practices, participants explore the skeletal, organ and fluid systems as a source for discovering resonance and vibration of sound in the body. Combining these systems affects the overall quality of sensation, tonal color, effort and energy flow in embodying the voice. We will focus on active breath, experiential anatomy, sensory awareness and movement in space. Vocal Dance Improvisation structures are introduced combining vocal, physical, visual, temporal and rhythmic elements to amplify ensemble interaction & communication. This workshop is effective in developing in the actor, singer and dancer an engaged and concentrated whole body experience of their voice combined with movement. These workshops are open to all levels of experience.
